The past few years have seen a wave of unionization in the cultural sector, particularly in museums. Locally and nationally, museum workers have been organizing to fight for increased pay, safety measures, and better working conditions. Join Museum Council for a virtual panel discussion to learn about the unionization process, the benefits and challenges of collective bargaining, and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on museum unions.
Panelists include union representatives from newly formed and well-established museum unions:
Adam Rizzo, Museum Educator at the Philadelphia Museum of Art
Jessica Lubniewski, Academic Coordinator at the Penn Museum
Maria Marchenkova, Senior Assistant Editor at the Museum of Modern Art
Moderator: Alex Palma, Assistant Director at Carpenter's Hall

The Museum Council has no official stance pro or against unions. However, we think this is an important and increasingly relevant topic, and believe it is necessary to have at this time an open dialogue concerning unionization in the museum field with colleagues who have experience with museum unions
