Museum Council of Greater Philadelphia Announces New President
The Museum Council of Greater Philadelphia is delighted to announce the unanimous election of its new President, Amanda Lampel. Amanda brings a wealth of professional experience to the role including her years of service as the Museum Council's Vice President and as Chair of the Emerging Professional Committee. Amanda has been elected to complete the 2022-2024 term of outgoing President, Mike Adams, who steps back from the board to focus on his many other professional obligations.
As Mike notes: "I am incredibly proud of the work we have done through Museum Council during my five years of board service, including two and a half as President. Together, we weathered the storm of the Covid-19 pandemic and found new ways to support our region's unparalleled museum community. We offered financial support to many of our out-of-work colleagues during the early days of the pandemic. We launched a microgrant program providing thousands of dollars in funding for museum projects throughout the region. We created a funding opportunity for interns at museums with limited resources. We offered countless behind-the-scenes, meet-the-board, and other engaging events. And, I am thrilled to report, we project that the Museum Council will achieve its balanced budget for the current fiscal year.
We've done incredible things together and the Museum Council rests on a very solid foundation. I have complete confidence that Museum's Council's new President, Amanda Lampel, will build on this foundation and flawlessly lead the organization in new, exciting, sustainable directions. I offer my gratitude to the Museum Council board and community for five wonderful years of experiences and memories that I will carry with me forever. And I wish Amanda and the board all the best. I look forward to supporting and celebrating Museum Council's continued success in the future."
As we say goodbye to Mike we are excited to see Amanda in her new role.
