Join Our Board!

 

Several positions on our board will open up in June and we are seeking qualified individuals to fill these roles. Many members will also chair committees like Marketing and Programming. 

As an active member of the board you’ll have a direct impact on the council and its evolution. As a committee chair you’ll develop strategies and programs tied to marketing, events and membership all while giving back to the museum community and enhancing the profile of your organization. Personally, you’ll expand your network while developing leadership and strategic-thinking skills.

Available Positions

All positions carry a 2-year term, renewable for another 2-year term (4 years total).

President:
The Museum Council President is responsible for general oversight of the organization. This includes (but is not limited to) managing the Executive Committee and committee chairs, ensuring financial responsibility, representing Museum Council at professional and networking events, and coordinating regular board meetings.

Vice President:
Assist the President in planning the Annual Meeting and board meetings and stand in and run board meetings when the President is unable to attend. Promote Museum Council within the Philadelphia-area cultural field and help ensure financial responsibility for the organization. Secure sponsorships for events as needed. Attend professional and networking events representing Museum Council.

Secretary:
Take minutes at and schedule board meetings. Keep records of the organization and meetings while maintaining administrative documents and duties of the board.

Marketing Chair:
Create and maintain content for social media, website, calendar, email and design marketing materials for Museum Council programming. Find avenues for promoting Museum Council events.

Programming Chair:
The Programming Chair manages the committee responsible for planning events, such as Behind-the-Scenes tours, panel discussions, and member exclusive events. Also responsible for identifying and building relationships with museums in Philadelphia for future programming and partnerships.

At-Large Member:
A voting member of the Board and is expected to help fulfill the vision and mission of Museum Council, attend board meeting, join committees, and represent Museum Council at events, and other networking opportunities.
