Leah M. Melber, Ph.D. is the Senior Director of Education at the Catalina Island Conservancy. She has over thirty years of experience working in museums, zoos, aquariums, and the out-of-doors to advance public engagement with the natural world. Her focus areas include interpretation best practices, public understanding of science and conservation, and the professional development and career growth of museum professionals. She is the editor of Teaching the Museum from AAM Press and currently lives on an island 26 miles off the coast of California.
